Three Things to Know: 2019 Volkswagen Arteon

Volkswagen’s all-new full-size sedan has arrived, and it’s arrived in serious style. Now the largest sedan in the German automaker’s lineup, this gorgeous vehicle is also the most expensive, but it’s well worth the price when you take into consideration these three things you should know about the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon.

3 – Its name basically means “Timeless Design”

Naming a car is something manufacturers and design teams take very seriously. After all, a vehicle’s name can greatly influence a buyer’s desire (or lack thereof) to purchase the car. So, when VW came up with the Arteon name, they did it with purpose.

The name is derived from the Latin word for art, artem, and eon, which means a long period of time.

And when you look at the design of the 2019 VW Arteon it’s rather clear to see why they landed on that name. Featuring a silhouette shared by Audi’s all-new A5 sportback, the lines of the Arteon are sleek and sophisticated, and rather timeless.

2 – It might have the same engine as the old CC, but it’s definitely better

The outgoing CC model featured a 2.0T that produced just 200 ponies and 207 lb-ft of torque. So, Volkswagen decided to ramp it up a bit, and the 2.0 litre turbocharged inline-4 now pushes out 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, and is coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. While there’s more power from the 2.0L, Volkswagen didn’t design the Arteon to be sporty, it was engineered for refined performance and everything about the drive is smooth.

1 – You can have your Arteon any way you want, as long as it’s an Execline trim

That’s right, there’s only one trim level available for the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon, but that’s OK because it checks all the boxes, including 4MOTION all-wheel drive, Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit and even a massaging driver’s seat.

There is an R-Line package you can add to the already fully loaded Execline and that will give you 20” Rosario alloy wheels, as well as R-Line badges, unique front and rear bumpers, as well as an R-Line steering wheel.
